A Coastal Grandmillennial Dream: Ali & TJ’s Spring Wedding at Carolina Grove
As a Wilmington wedding photographer who specializes in capturing joyful, timeless celebrations, I couldn’t have dreamed up a more perfect day than Ali and TJ’s spring wedding at Carolina Grove. Tucked away in the heart of North Carolina, this venue served as the perfect backdrop for their elegant yet effortlessly coastal celebration.
From the moment I arrived, I knew this day was going to be special. Ali’s vision blended coastal grandmillennial charm with Nantucket-inspired touches—think textured baskets overflowing with blue hydrangeas and wildflowers, delicate blue-and-white linen patterns, and soft pastel details that made the whole event feel like spring itself had arrived to celebrate with us.
Ali got ready alongside her best friends in the serene bridal suite at Carolina Grove, a space that perfectly complements a light and airy wedding photographer’s dream. The morning was filled with laughter, a few happy tears, and a whole lot of anticipation. One of the sweetest moments was her first look with her bridesmaids—none of them had seen her dress yet, and their reactions were priceless.
Next came an emotional first look with her father that had us all misty-eyed, followed by a deeply heartfelt first look with TJ under the trees. These intimate moments are why I love being an NC wedding photographer—every couple brings their own magic to the day, and Ali and TJ’s connection was undeniable.
The ceremony space was decorated with handwoven baskets brimming with hydrangeas, giving the setting a relaxed, East Coast garden party vibe. Every corner of Carolina Grove reflected Ali and TJ’s elegant taste—from heirloom-inspired tablescapes to floral accents that looked freshly gathered from a coastal meadow.
As a light and airy wedding photographer, I’m always chasing the kind of golden, natural light that Carolina Grove offers. This venue’s blend of open fields, bright interiors, and clean architectural lines made it a dream to photograph.
One of my favorite wedding trends right now? Light-up cowboy hats—and yes, Ali and TJ totally embraced the fun! There’s something about these glowing accessories that instantly turns the dance floor into a party. They’re playful, photogenic, and make for the best candid moments during the reception. I hope this trend never goes away, because nothing says “celebration” quite like a glowing hat and a packed dance floor.
Whether you’re planning a classic Southern soirée or a coastal-inspired wedding in North Carolina, Ali and TJ’s day is sure to inspire. If you’re dreaming of a wedding filled with timeless charm, hydrangea blooms, and heartfelt moments, Carolina Grove might just be your perfect place—and I’d be honored to capture it for you.
