A Classic Wilmington Wedding: Garden Ceremony and Sailcloth Reception

As a Wilmington wedding photographer, there are certain celebrations that linger in your memory—Ruthie and George’s wedding at Live Oak Estate is one of them. Their day unfolded like a storybook, bringing together effortless elegance, waterfront views, and a personal history decades in the making.

This enchanting Live Oak Estate wedding perfectly captured a fresh, garden party aesthetic wrapped in sophisticated coastal elegance. The bride and groom dreamed of a relaxed yet refined atmosphere where guests could enjoy the Intracoastal breeze, vibrant florals, and the charm of Southern hospitality. Underneath a billowing white sailcloth tent, they made that vision come to life.

A Love Story Written in the Stars

Ruthie and George’s love story began long before they met. In a sweet twist of fate, their fathers were college roommates in the 1980s. That unexpected connection gave their wedding a deeper sense of meaning. It truly felt like their story was written in the stars.

Bridal Style with Timeless Flair

As a timeless wedding photographer, I’m always inspired by details that feel both classic and personal. Ruthie’s bridal wardrobe was a beautiful mix of elegance and individuality.

Ruthie began the morning in the Shona Joy La Lune Cumulus Silk gown, styled with a vintage Miss Elaine peignoir cape. For the ceremony, she changed into the Ines Di Santo “Smitten” gown. It featured filled-in sides for a custom fit. On top, she added the Monique Lhuillier Eloise Bolero—a delicate lace jacket with cap sleeves and buttons down the front.

Later that evening, she changed into a more playful look: the Delphine Cleo Mini Dress in Noir/Ivory. She completed her look with floral-printed Christian Louboutin sandals and a black YSL Uptown pouch. Each outfit reflected her refined yet modern sense of style.

A Joyful Color Palette & Dapper Groom’s Party

The bridesmaids wore a vibrant rainbow of floor-length gowns in pink, coral, yellow, and burgundy. Each dress showcased the personality of the woman wearing it. Together, they created a joyful and fresh energy that stood out beautifully against the natural surroundings.

Meanwhile, George and his groomsmen wore classic navy blue suits. The groom paired his with a white dress shirt and coordinating tie. This classic palette helped the bridesmaid colors pop while maintaining a polished, coastal vibe. Personal touches like floral boutonnieres completed their look.

Natural Details and a Meaningful Farewell

This coastal celebration was full of thoughtful design. From woven textures in the tent to organic floral arrangements, every element felt intentional. Their cake was clean and understated—a white, tiered design topped with cascading orchids.

For the grand exit, Ruthie and George chose a sentimental ride. Ruthie and George drove off in the bride’s late grandfather’s 1977 Chevrolet El Camino. It was a heartfelt moment that honored her family legacy and closed the evening on a meaningful note.

Film & Drone Wilmington Wedding Photography for a Full Perspective

As a film wedding photographer and drone wedding photographer, I love capturing both the grand and intimate moments. This wedding offered the best of both.

Drone photography showcased the sailcloth tent, sparkling water, and sweeping views. Film captured the soft, emotional moments with an editorial feel. From joyful laughter to quiet glances, every image told part of the story.
