Jess and Andrew had a stunning spring Bald Head Island Wedding that started at the island chapel and ended with a stunning tented reception on the water. As a destination light and airy wedding photographer based in Wilmington, NC, I am always thrilled to capture love stories in beautiful and unique locations. Andrew and Jessica’s wedding at Bald Head Island was a perfect example of Southern charm and romantic elegance, creating an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
Bald Head Island is a hidden gem off the coast of North Carolina, accessible only by ferry. This island paradise offers a unique guest experience, as there are no cars allowed on the island, only golf carts and bicycles. This car-free environment, combined with the island’s stunning natural beauty and rich Southern charm, makes it a perfect destination for weddings. Guests enjoyed the scenic ferry ride, setting the tone for a day of celebration in a truly magical location.
One of the most touching moments of the day was the first look between Andrew and Jessica. They chose a secluded spot on the island, surrounded by nature, to share this intimate moment. As they saw each other for the first time, tears flowed freely, and their joy was palpable. This heartfelt encounter set the stage for a day filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Jessica also shared a special first look with her bridesmaids. Their reactions were priceless as they ran towards her with open arms, wrapping her in hugs and excitement. This moment of pure joy and support highlighted the strong bond between Jessica and her closest friends, adding another layer of emotion to the day.
No wedding is complete without including all family members, and for Andrew and Jessica, this meant their beloved dog, Sully. Sully made a brief but adorable appearance for photos, adding a touch of fun and personality to the couple’s portraits. His presence brought smiles and laughter, making the day even more memorable.
The reception was a vision of elegance and charm, set in a tented area by the water with the iconic Bald Head Island lighthouse as a backdrop. The reveal of the beautifully decorated reception space left everyone in awe. The combination of the natural beauty of the island and the carefully curated décor created a breathtaking setting for the celebration.
After the reception reveal, we took some time to explore the island and capture couple portraits. Riding around in a golf cart, we discovered picturesque spots that highlighted the island’s charm and provided stunning backdrops for photos. From sandy beaches to lush greenery, each location added a unique touch to their wedding album.
As the day came to a close, we were treated to one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. The sky was painted in hues of orange, pink, and purple, providing a perfect ending to a perfect day. The sunset photos captured the serenity and beauty of Bald Head Island, leaving Andrew and Jessica with memories they will cherish forever.
