As a light and airy destination wedding photographer, I absolutely adore capturing weddings that embody the coastal charm of Emerald Isle. Emma and Landon’s September wedding was the epitome of just that—an enchanting backyard celebration that had it all: beautiful weather, meaningful traditions, and an unforgettable sunset over the intercoastal waters.
Initially, the forecast wasn’t looking favorable with an 80% chance of rain, but Landon’s mom knew exactly what to do. In a show of faith and tradition, she buried a bottle of bourbon during a tropical storm, ensuring that the wedding day would be nothing short of perfect. And it was! The skies cleared, the sun shined, and we were graced with a gorgeous, golden hour that only the Carolina coast can provide.
The couple chose Landon’s family home for their ceremony, which was held under the shade of a majestic oak tree, draped in delicate floral arrangements. The intimate atmosphere set the perfect tone for the day. Guests mingled at a stylish oyster bar, grabbing signature drinks and overlooking the magical area of Emerald Isle. It was the perfect start to what would be a beautifully detailed, coastal-inspired day.
After the ceremony, we ventured to the dock, where Emma and Landon took a few quiet moments together as newlyweds. The setting sun painted the sky in soft hues of pink and orange, and the calm waters created a dreamy reflection that added to the magic of the scene. Capturing their love during this serene, intimate moment was a highlight of the day for me as a photographer.
The evening culminated with a grand exit unlike any other—a boat send-off under the stars. As Emma and Landon sailed away, the cheers and laughter of family and friends echoed across the water, the perfect ending to a day filled with love, joy, and so many personal touches.
This wedding was not only a beautiful celebration of Emma and Landon’s love, but also a testament to the unpredictable beauty of coastal weddings. No matter what the forecast might say, there’s something special about the way everything just falls into place when you’re surrounded by family, friends, and the natural beauty of the North Carolina coast.
It’s weddings like this that remind me why I love what I do—capturing authentic love stories in stunning destinations like Emerald Isle. Emma and Landon’s day will forever stand out in my memory, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it.
